Frances Lee Gilliland, APRN, DNP

Frances (Frankie) Gilliland, DNP, CPNP-AC/PC, CCRN, began her career in pediatric nursing in 1994, caring for infants and children in neonatal and pediatric intensive care settings. She spent more than two decades at the University of Louisville and Kosair Children’s Hospital, serving in a variety of clinical and leadership roles including Staff RN, Charge Nurse, Preceptor, ECMO Technician, and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care.

In 2017, Frankie joined Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit. She currently serves as an APP Education Specialist for Critical Care and Director of the APP Acute Care Fellowship Program, where she supports advanced practice provider education, professional development, and transition-to-practice initiatives.

Beyond her clinical practice, Frankie has extensive experience in education and mentorship, having served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of South Florida (USF), simulation and didactic instructor, and preceptor for nurse practitioner and doctoral students at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She is actively involved in professional organizations, including the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners where she is currently serving as the board president of the Florida Chapter.

Frankie received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville, her Master of Science in Nursing from Northern Kentucky University, her Post-Master’s Certificate in Pediatric Acute Care, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Kentucky.
