Charlotte Story is an instructor in the Division of Hematology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a clinical investigator specializing in classical hematology. She received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, completed her internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and completed fellowship training in hematology at The Johns Hopkins University and the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. Clinically, Dr. Story specializes in the diagnosis and care of patients with inherited and acquired blood disorders, including coagulation and bleeding disorders, hemoglobinopathies, cytopenia, thrombotic microangiopathies, immune-mediated hematologic disorders, and other hematologic conditions.

Dr. Story’s research focuses on thrombotic microangiopathies (TMAs), including thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) and complement-mediated TMAs, with an emphasis on long-term outcomes, patient-reported outcomes, vascular complications, risk stratification and optimizing patient management. Her work integrates multicenter collaborations, clinical outcomes research and translational partnerships to advance understanding and improve care for patients with rare hematologic disorders. She is also involved in multicenter initiatives to improve awareness and care for individuals with neutrophil counts associated with Duffy-null red cell phenotypes.
